Seven Samurai Painting

This is a large painting I did based on a classic image from the movie Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa. It’s 6 separate canvases that I first hung on the wall and then painted. I used red, black and white acrylic paint.

The painting is about 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide.

I love this! But there are only 6 in it, why did you choose this one? You’re right though an iconic image. Have you sold it (them)?

Thanks Tim, I just liked the composition. It’s currently decorating my living room.

Nice! I love Seven Samurai, I would love to see this hanging in a living room or somewhere. You should post a pic of it hanging on the wall. Looks like you applied a fragmenting or posterize type filter to the original picture for inspiration. I did a charcoal picture of ToshirĂ´ Mifune earlier this year, click my name to see it.
